About Us

Our Mission & Vision

We are a family of Christians who intentionally include all of God’s children as we seek to live in faithful obedience to God’s command to love one another and seek justice, using Jesus as our example. We strive to serve God’s people and to connect to each other personally, spiritually, and socially.
Following God’s direction, we are boldly growing through Jesus Christ in spirituality and diversity. We are a congregation that loves God and
all of God’s people.

Who We Are

College Hill Church is a diverse community made up of people from many different walks of life. We are multi-racial…multi-cultural…multi-lingual.
We are young, old, single, married, divorced, widowed, and families with young children and teens. Some of us live quite comfortably, while others of us struggle just to pay the rent. Some hold advanced degrees, while others were not afforded the luxury of of a basic formal education or had to drop out of school due to life circumstances. Some enjoy healthy strong bodies, and others struggle with chronic illnesses or differently-abled bodies. Some of us were born in the US and some of us are new immigrants.
We come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds including Presbyterian, UCC, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, Baptist, A.M.E., Quaker, and non-denominational churches. Some of us had never had a church home before coming to College Hill.

What We Believe

We believe that all having all this diversity among us is not only o.k. – it’s the way God planned it.
So we embrace our differences wholeheartedly and we take our commitment to inclusion seriously. Do we always “do diversity” well? No, not really. To be completely honest, sometimes we miss the mark (sometimes in a big way). We’re not a perfect church by any stretch of the imagination, and there’s not a perfect soul among us. But, perfection is not our goal.
We believe that all people are broken and in need of a savior.
Each of us comes with gifts, life experiences, and burdens that are uniquely our own. We also believe that we’re all connected in brother and sisterhood by the grace God and our faith in Jesus Christ. And that’s what binds us together.
What about that seeking justice part? We believe that as Christians, we are called to help ensure that the Kingdom of God is realized on earth as is it is in heaven.
We believe that advancing God’s Kingdom requires loving people unconditionally, meeting needs through service, and working faithfully to fight injustice and change systems that harm or oppress God’s children.
So we partner with many groups in our community and around the world to address issues of poverty, justice and empowerment.
By the way, you might not be able to guess who the ministers at College Hill Church are. If that seems like an strange statement, we encourage you to take a look. You may be quite surprised!

A Little History Explains A Lot

To better understand who we are and how we came to be the church we are today, it helps to know a little bit about
our unique history, particularly the leap of faith taken by a few committed church members at a time when our neighborhood was experiencing turmoil and transition.
If you’re looking for a church home, we hope you will come and experience
worship and fellowship with us, try out one of our Bible Study groups, or at least drop by for one of our upcoming events.
