We are blessed with a diverse and uniquely talented team of paid and volunteer staff at College Hill Church.  Here is a little bit about them…

Rev. Dr. Darryll Young – Senior Pastor

The Reverend Dr. Darryll H. Young was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from the High School of Music & Art in 1976 and graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a double major in Sociology and Visual Arts in 1981. After moving to San Jose, California, he owned and operated “Focus Graphics” and worked as a silk-screen printer and graphic artist.
He graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1989 with a Master of Divinity degree. And, was ordained as Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament on January 7, 1990. He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in December of 2000. His Doctoral dissertation title was “Transformation through Proclamation and Leadership: Transcending Walls and Building Bridges”
Over the years, Dr. Young has pastored congregations throughout the state of New York including churches in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Rochester; as well as Princeton, New Jersey, Kansas City, Missouri and Denver, Colorado. He celebrated 28 years of ministry in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A in February of 2018.

Rev. Dr. Karen Young – Psalm 23:  The Lord is my Shepherd

Dr. Karen Young moved to Ohio from Colorado to join her husband, Dr. Darryll Young, Senior Pastor at College Hill.  She is a licensed and Ordained Minister with a Doctorate in Christian Counseling.  Dr. Young is the mother of two daughters, and four grandchildren, the flowers in her heart. Over the last 30 years Dr. Young has developed an extraordinary capacity and wisdom for working with youth and families that have suffered through various kinds of personal crises and trauma.  With love and faith she has helped Pastors, Leaders, Teachers and Counselors to a deeper understanding with the use of their gifts.    Dr. Young is a group facilitator, Grief Counselor, songstress, writer and producer of plays. She enjoys fishing, being outdoors and being in service to God.  She counts it a privilege and honor to be in service with her best friend and Husband, Pastor Darryll Young.

Marcus Johnson – Christian Educator

 Marcus lives in Dayton and is a graduate of Stivers School for the Arts.  He attends Wright State University where his focus is music, African American Studies, and social sciences.  Marcus is uniquely special as he grew up attending College Hill Church.  His favorite saying is, “The only thing God can’t do is create something He can’t do.”

Jose Jones – Hispanic Ministry Program Coordinator

José Jones serves as the Coordinator of our Hispanic Ministry programs. 

Dr. Carolyn Peters – Spiritual Counselor/Educator

Dr. Carolyn Peters

Dr. Carolyn Peters serves as a Spiritual Counselor and Educator at College Hill Church. She has a Masters Degree in Social Work and a Doctoral Degree in Theology. Carolyn offers spiritual counseling (by appointment) to
who needs it. She also provides referrals for those in need to community resources that can help with food, utilities, and other forms of material assistance and support.
Those are only some of Carolyn’s many contributions to life at College Hill Church. In her 32 years of membership, she has served as Deacon, Ruling Elder, and has chaired or participated in more than half of the Ministering Units at College Hill. She leads the Wednesday Morning Bible Study as well.
Carolyn is visually impaired, and is a tireless advocate for others who are blind and visually impaired. She also helps us keep our differently-abled brothers and sisters in mind as we seek to welcome and include all people in our church family.
A few things you might not know about Carolyn: She is past president of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, she was the first African-American female Executive Director Mary Scott Nursing Center, and she is the author of a book entitled:  Knowing When to Go
(about the book of Ruth).

Rev. Dr. Charles Williams, Jr. – Minister of Ecumenical Representation

Charlie’s passion for social justice and (as well as his frequent reminders to “think ecumenically”) help keep us on track with our commitment to Justice and Peacemaking.
Charlie also sits on the board of the Urban Ministry Center.  
A few things you might not know about Charlie:
His father was one of the Tuskegee Airmen who served in World War II.
